A Squeal and then a Joyous Bark…

I was sitting at this computer last night dicking around on the Internet and listening to the latest Smashing Pumpkins CD for the hundredth time. Maggie squealed a few times and then started to bark joyously. “Charlie’s here!” I exclaimed and Maggie just went nuts. “Just what are you two doing?” Charlie asked me as he stepped through my front door. “I’ve got you a McDonald’s Big Mac value meal, Maggie a hamburger plain, and your daddy wants me to see you take your medications.” I was so glad to see Charlie that I couldn’t complain about the coddling medications part. “Horsefly’s at the bowling alley so I can’t stay long,” Charlie said. “Let’s feed and water Maggie.” Well, Maggie was out of food. It completely escaped me. “There is another bag of food in momma’s trunk in the garage,” I told Charlie. We drove over, set off mom and dad’s house alarm, and got Maggie’s dog food. “I’ve got to run,” Charlie said. “Love you two and you all stay out of trouble.” I sat down at my computer so glad to have had a visit. I also had an icy cold Coca-Cola to enjoy while I browsed the internet. In a short hour, my medications would take effect and I would be sound asleep after turning the air conditioning down some and getting comfortable.
