Conclusions In contrast to conventional wisdom that combined TCA and MAOI therapy should be avoided, the judicious use of this combination may be relatively safe and effective compared with combined TCA plus TCA therapy. However, sample sizes were limited, and the analysis was nonrandomized and retrospective.

Abstract Ferula hermonis Boiss, is an endemic plant of Lebanon, locally known as "shilsh El-zallouh". It has been extensively used in traditional medicine as an aphrodisiac and for the treatment of sexual impotence. ConclusionsThe study showed that over half of the frequently used medicinal plants showed moderate to high mutagenicity before and after metabolism at the concentration of a 100 μg/mL. This may have implications for the safety of those who use them to manage diseases. These findings will suggest the need for an in-depth study of the mutagenic potentials of plants commonly used by indigenous people and more especially for those exhibiting high mutagenicity in this study.Graphical abstract
