Evolution of Al-Si-Mn-Fe aluminum alloy microstructure in the equal-channel angular pressing with back pressure

Publication date: 1 November 2019Source: Materials Letters, Volume 254Author(s): Violetta AndreyachshenkoAbstractThe evolution of the aluminum alloy of the A3xx Al-Si-Mn-Fe series in the equal-channel angular pressing with back pressure with the strain of 0.75 per cycle has been carried out. After preliminary annealing dispersed inclusions of three types have been observed in the alloy: rod-like particles, planar-shaped rounded forms, and silicon particles. Two parallel grain refining schemes have been detected that ensure grinding the grains to the size of about 1 μm and smaller than 150 nm after the 1.5 degree of deformation. Three cycles of deformation lead to the appearance of small cracks in the sample, the destruction of the sample occurs at the total strain of 3.Graphical abstract
