Prospective Cohort Study of Haptic Virtual Reality Laparoscopic Appendicectomy Learning Curve Trajectory

We report on a 13-year-old boy who presented with right iliac fossa pain associated with anorexia, tenderness, guarding and rebound tenderness. Abdominal ultrasound showed findings of acute appendicitis. However, laparoscopy revealed a wooden toothpick perforating MD and a hyperemic appendix. The FB was removed and laparoscopic diverticulectomy and appendectomy performed. Perforation of MD by a FB is a diagnostic challenge and it should be included in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen in children.
Evaluate the incidence of appendectomy for grossly abnormal appearance during laparoscopic gynecologic surgery for benign indications and pathologic concordance.

The objective of this study is to present an anatomical defect of duodenal atresia using a rabbit model and evaluate the preliminary experience for the training of surgical skills with pediatric surgeons. Adult white New Zealand male rabbits weighing 3.0 to 4.5 kg were used to create the defect. Conclusions: This series presents our laparoscopic technique for continent urinary diversions, showing that it is feasible and safe in adult patients with neurogenic bladder.
ConclusionsStump appendicitis may occur following both open and laparoscopic approach, when the residual stump is > 0.5 cm. Its clinical significance lies in the delayed diagnosis, leading to higher incidence of complications and the need for more extensive surgery.
The purpose of this study is to review the cases of postcolonoscopy appendicitis (PCA) reported in the literature. A comprehensive search using PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and Google Scholar identified 57 cases. The median age at presentations of PCA was 55 years. PCAs typically occurred during the first 24 hours after colonoscopy, and the majority developed after diagnostic colonoscopy. ConclusionsPeritoneal carcinomatosis of unknown primary site may be caused by an occult appendiceal adenocarcinoma. This error in diagnosis may lead to suboptimal treatment. Surgical exploration to visualize a normal appendix should occur prior to making a definitive diagnosis of peritoneal carcinomatosis of unknown primary site.
