Antimicrobial central venous catheters do not reduce infections in pre-term babies

Expert commentary states CVCs impregnated with antimicrobials (n=430) are no better than standard CVCs (n=431). Time from allocation to first bloodstream infection was similar (HR 1.11, p=0 · 63) and 46/430 (10%) or 44/431 (11%) babies developed bloodstream infection, respectively.
