Long noncoding RNA LINC00511 promotes cell growth and invasion in triple-negative breast cancer by interacting with Snail
CONCLUSIONS: FUT8 deficiency suppressed migration of MCF-7 cells by impacting core fucosylation of E-cadherin and the downstream FAK/integrin pathway. Therefore, FUT8 is a potential biomarker for breast cancer detection and treatment. PMID: 31306109 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Ahmed SH Abstract Introduction: Preoperative systemic therapy (PST) including neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer (BC) is used nowadays on a large scale especially in aggressive BC subtypes. The use of NAC in BC may be associated with some safety issues and hazards including possible increased rate of locoregional recurrence, inadequate staging with subsequent over or under-treatment, and surgical complications. Areas covered: This review article aims to discuss these concerns and to clarify the adequate steps and procedures needed to increase safety and alleviate the possible drawbacks of NAC....
, Smetana K Abstract Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) represent a crucial component of cancer microenvironment. CAFs significantly influence biological properties of various types of cancer in terms of local aggressiveness, recurrence, and metastatic behaviour. This chapter summarizes a simple protocol for isolation of normal fibroblasts and their cancer-associated counterparts from normal human skin and mucosa, respectively, as well as from samples of human tumours such as basal/squamous carcinoma, melanoma, and breast cancer, and employment of this procedure for other types of cancer is possible. Isolated fi...

In the original publication of the article, under the Methods section, second paragraph, the sentence that reads as “We excluded 3047 patients … surgical treatment (see Fig. 1)” should read as “We excluded 3047 patients who did not identify as black or white, 5395 who were not initially diagnosed with stage 0–III cancer or were missing stage or residence data, 2573 patients who passed away within 18 m onths of diagnosis, and 4716 patients who did not undergo primary surgical treatment (see Fig. 1)”.
ConclusionsReconsidering the use of ultrasound in patients with early breast cancer and non-palpable axillae reveals that sentinel node biopsy itself may represent surgical over-treatment in patients with a negative axillary ultrasound. The implications of this on the future of surgical management of the axilla are discussed.
