In this Letter, we designed a specialized piezoelectric metamaterial which is consist of a piezoelectric sensing element, an elastic rubber, and a mass element by using the finite element method (FEM). The FEM results suggested that the deflection behavior in this type of piezoelectric metamaterial, could strictly break the Coriolis effect and a negative Coriolis effect was observed. The exploration of negative Coriolis effect in piezoelectric metamaterial would provide theoretical guideline for the further design of ultrasensitive gyroscopes.
