Trends in global prescribing of antidiabetic medicines in primary care: A systematic review of literature between 2000 –2018
In 2017 globally, 425 million adults were estimated to suffer from diabetes and it is estimated that 90% of all diabetic patients are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) [1]. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common type of diabetes among adults. The prevalence of T2DM is associated with obesity and unhealthy lifestyles [2].
