Shoulder periprosthetic joint infection: the current state of the art

It is with great pride and great humility that we submit the work of the shoulder section of the Second International Consensus Meeting (ICM) on Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) —the first time shoulder PJI was included in the process. We feel “great pride” because of the quality of the product and extent of the effort that so many in our field and affiliated fields gave to codify the “state of the art” in our understanding of periprosthetic shoulder infection. Th e shoulder section included 73 delegates from multiple countries who toiled for over a year on 75 separate systematic reviews covering every topic related to shoulder PJI.
