State orders review of controversial opioid-tapering proposal

The Oregon Health Authority hired a Washington-based consulting firm to review its proposed policy for some patients taking opioids for chronic pain to taper off, according to an announcement from the Oregon Health Authority. Eighteen months in the making, the policy is pending before the Health Evidence Review Commission and affects patients on Medicaid.
