Exploding e-cigarette tore a Tennessee man's cheek off and left his face covered in acid burns

David Bishop, 25, from Cordova, Tennessee, has filed a lawsuit against three companies after an e-cigarette exploded in his mouth in May 2018, tearing part of his cheek off and burning him.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are a rare single spectrum of severe epidermolytic reactions that can involve the vulva, vagina, and cervix. AbstractCardiac stress is a critical determinant of outcomes associated with severe thermal injury. The cardiovascular response to a catecholamine ‐mediated surge from severe burns passes through two phases. Initial hypovolemia with myocardial depression leads to a low cardiac output, which then progresses to a hyperdynamic‐hypermetabolic phase with increased cardiac output.
