Boston Scientific launches AdVance XP male stress urinary incontinence sling

Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) said late last week that it launched its AdVance XP male sling system intended to treat male stress urinary incontinence. The newly launched next-gen device includes a redesign intended to improve ease of placement and stability, and is available in longer sling lengths, the Marlborough, Mass.-based company said. “I believe the Advance XP Male Sling will allow my patients to get back to their normal, daily activities sooner. The modifications may help reduce post-operative sling slippage and may reduce the restrictions I previously placed on my patients immediately following placement, such as lifting, squatting and sexual activity,” Dr. Brian Christine of the Urology Centers of Alabama said in a press release. Boston Scientific said that it worked with urologists to improve the platform and allow physicians to treat more patients with the sling device. The device includes a chevron anchoring mechanism intended to enhance tissue fixation and changes to its mesh weave to provide uniform load displacement, the company said. “The U.S. launch of the AdVance XP Male Sling is another example of how Boston Scientific continues to proactively identify physician needs and innovate to meet them while improving patients’ lives.
