ConclusionsGynecological fistula is rare in Norway, with an overall incidence of 6/10 000 in the female population, while the incidence of surgically treated fistula is 4.2/100 000. However, the condition represents considerable morbidity for the individual patient. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Abstract External beam radiation therapy for prostate cancer can result in urinary, sexual, and rectal side effects, often impairing quality of life. A polyethylene glycol-based product, SpaceOAR© hydrogel (SOH), implanted into the connective tissue between the prostate gland and rectum can significantly reduce the dose received by the rectum and hence risk of rectal toxicity. The optimal way to manage the hydrogel and rectal structures for plan optimization is therefore of interest. In 13 patients, computerized tomography (CT) scans were taken pre- and post-SpaceOAR© implant. A prescription of 60 G...

Publication date: Available online 14 March 2019Source: European Polymer JournalAuthor(s): Semra Unal, Sema Arslan, Tilbe Gokce, Beste Melek Atasoy, Betul Karademir, Faik Nuzhet Oktar, Oguzhan GunduzAbstractThree-dimensional (3D) scaffolds that mimic in vivo tumor microenvironments can be used to study tumor response to anticancer treatments, since most preclinical combination treatment strategy for anti-glioma were evaluated with traditional 2D cell culture. In this research, the nanofiber scaffolds of polycaprolactone (PCL) containing gelatin (Gel) nano/microparticles coated with different concentrations of graphene...

This study evaluates the implementation of the radiologic aspects of HERBY. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We analyzed multimodal imaging compliance rates and scan quality for participating sites, adjudication rates and reading times for the central review process, the influence of different Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology criteria in the final response, the incidence of pseudoprogression, and the benefit of incorporating multimodal imaging into the decision process. RESULTS: Multimodal imaging compliance rates were the following: diffusion, 82%; perfusion, 60%; and spectroscopy, 48%. Neuroradiologists' responses differed ...

Radiation therapy for cervical cancer has undergone a significant shift in the past 15  years. Positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) is now routinely used for nodal staging for cervical cancer, and studies have shown significantly higher sensitivity and specificity in comparison to CT scans.1 Those with PET-positive lymph nodes have significantly worse disease-s pecific survival than those with PET-negative lymph nodes, and the extent of the PET-positive disease further worsens prognosis.

Authors: Heidenreich A, Rieke M, Mahjoub S, Pfister D Abstract Oligometastatic prostate cancer (PCA) has increasingly been detected in the era of modern imaging studies such as choline-specific and prostate-specificmembrane antigen (PSMA)-positron emission tomography and X-ray computed tomography (PET/CT). Recent evidence suggests that durable control is attainable with local treatment modalities such as salvage metastasectomy or stereotactic radiation therapy targeting oligometastases, either with or without the use of systemic therapy. The purpose of this article is to critically review the current findings o...
