Comment on “Long-term outcomes of metabolic and bariatric surgery in adolescents with severe obesity with a follow-up of at least 5 years: A systematic review”
The systematic review entitled “Long-term outcomes of metabolic and bariatric surgery in adolescents with severe obesity with a follow-up of at least 5 years: A systematic review” in SOARD is a timely publication addressing the obesity epidemic in a growing population of patients [1]. Childhood obesity has increased exponenti ally all over the world and has put adolescents at an increased risk for developing adult comorbidities. Family-based lifestyle modification is a crucial step in weight management but bariatric surgery is the most effective measure for weight loss and improvement of comorbidities [2].
