This benign disease possesses special biological behaviors mimicking malignant tumors. The supportive and receptive microenvironment established by existing lesion can be defined as pro-endometriotic nice. After the accumulation of cells by existing lesion, these components display distinct characteristics to impair immune surveillance. As the retrogradation of endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) into this microenvironment, pro-endometriotic niche protects these endometrial fragments and facilitates the endometriotic progression from early initiation to advanced lesion. The aim of this review is to highlight the innovative role of pro-endometriotic niche in endometriosis and provide valuable treating targets of endometriosis.Graphic abstract
