Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding on 3566 patients up to 20-year follow-up: long-term results of a standardized technique

Obesity is a chronic disease worldwide, increasing with exponential growth. Bariatric surgery is the most effective long-term treatment for morbid obesity regarding weight loss and comorbidity reduction. Laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive, safe technique, made the bariatric operations possible and positively entered the world of obesity [1,2]. Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LAGB) was the first operation proposed for a laparoscopic approach, because of its safety and replicability, and quickly became one of the most common bariatric surgical operations.
