Authors: Stuani VT, Manfredi GGDP, Sant'Ana ACP, de Rezende MLR Abstract A 47-year-old Caucasian male presented with a radiolucent area around the apical region of an implant placed using the socket shield technique. A second surgical procedure was performed to curette the lesion and fill the defect with a xenogeneic bone graft. Twenty months after implant placement and 10 months after the second surgery, there was no sign of recurrence of the lesion and radiographic evaluation was consistent with new bone formation in the region. Thus, although numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of the socket shi...

CONCLUSIONS: Within the limits of the study, it is concluded that Lepidium sativum can be used in the treatment of osteoporotic postmenopausal women with chronic periodontitis who refuse treatment with ALN. The combined use of LS and ALN may have a synergistic effect resulting in a more favorable clinical response, increased bone mass than using ALN alone when combined with conventional therapy in treatment of chronic periodontitis in postmenopausal osteoporotic women. Osteoporosis is often diagnosed only after patients have a fracture that causes a severe decline in ability to perform activities of daily life. Although the current criterion standard for diagnosing osteoporosis is dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), this modality remains less prevalent among general practitioners in geriatric medicine. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic utility of visual ins...
