Women were waiting months for a mastectomy. This surgeon changed that.
In South Africa breast cancer can take 8 months to be diagnosed and 4 months for treatment to begin, but Project Flamingo is reducing the problem through its volunteer surgeons, who operate in their spare time -- and for free. To date they have saved the lives of 500 women.
