Background: Perioperative myocardial infarction (MI) is a dangerous cardiac complication after non-cardiac surgery. Bariatric surgery, due to its intraabdominal nature, has traditionally been considered an intermediate risk procedure; however, there is limited large scale data on MI rates and its predictors in patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
