Robotic Mediastinal Surgery in Patients with Suspected Thymic Neoplasms: First Israeli Experience.

CONCLUSIONS: Robotic thymectomy is a safe, technically effective surgical method for resection of thymic neoplasms. The advantages of this technique are safety, short hospitalization period, little blood loss, and low complications. We have included this surgical procedure in our thoracic surgery residency program and recommend a learning curve program of 10 to 12 procedures during residency. PMID: 30324782 [PubMed - in process]

AbstractBackgroundPassive immunization against RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is given in most western countries (including Israel) to infants of high risk groups such as premature babies, and infants with Congenital Heart Disease or Congenital Lung Disease. However, immunoprophylaxis costs are extremely high ($2800 –$4200 per infant). Using cost-utility analysis criteria, we evaluate whether it is justified to expand, continue or restrict nationwide immunoprophylaxis using palivizumab of high risk infants against RSV.MethodsEpidemiological, demographic, health service utilisation and economic data were integrated...

We reported a sixty-three-year-old female patient with intermittent urethral bleeding due to tumor arising at the edge of the urethra. Urethrocystoscopy was done prior to surgical resection and ventral vaginal graft urethroplasty was performed directly afterwards. Histopathological reported a urethral cavernous hemangioma. An individualized approach regarding the most appropriate procedure for a given patient should be recommended.

With Genesis 37 and the story of Joseph we enter new literary territory. Scholars now generally agree -- and it makes sense to me -- that this is essentially the artful creation of a single author. In other words, unlike what we have seen so far, generally crudely rendered transcriptions of what was originally oral tradition and vital records, pieced together from various sources by scribes, this is a novella. It has vivid characters whose emotional lives are visible to us; strong plot elements including suspense, reversals of fortune, foreshadowing, theme and variation, changing affections and character development.Howeve...
