Robotic Mediastinal Surgery in Patients with Suspected Thymic Neoplasms: First Israeli Experience.

CONCLUSIONS: Robotic thymectomy is a safe, technically effective surgical method for resection of thymic neoplasms. The advantages of this technique are safety, short hospitalization period, little blood loss, and low complications. We have included this surgical procedure in our thoracic surgery residency program and recommend a learning curve program of 10 to 12 procedures during residency. PMID: 30324782 [PubMed - in process]

Conclusion: The diagnosis of vortex vein varices can be confirmed through clinical examination through the use of digital pressure to the globe during ophthalmoscopic examination. Adjunctive multimodal imaging (fundus color photography, near-infrared reflectance imaging, fundus autofluorescence, fluorescein angiography, indocyanine angiography, and spectral-domain enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography) was useful in the diagnosis of vortex vein varices in the authors' clinical cases. However, in more challenging clinical cases, the authors' novel use of the ultra-widefield contact lens for application of oc...

We report a case where magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to aid in radiation target delineation for radioactive eye plaque brachytherapy. A thin-slice orbital MRI enhanced with gadolinium contrast was performed to differentiate the enhanced tumor from the unenhanced subretinal fluid, allowing for hemangioma delineation. Our patient was treated with 35Gy to the tumor apex over four days via radioactive iodine eye plaque. Subretinal fluid in the macula improved within a month and the exudative retinal detachment resolved within six months. There was no recurrence of subretinal fluid at three years. Our case illustrat...

Conclusion: 16 of 19 studies treated by CHM granules only showed positive result in 7 diseases and negative result in 1 disease. 17 of 21 studies treated by combination therapy against conventional therapy showed positive result in 6 diseases and negative result in 3 diseases. However, both the absolute and relative effectiveness of CHM formula granules compared with placebo need to be considered clinically. PMID: 31110552 [PubMed]

In this study, the expression of miR-501 in hemangioma cell lines was analyzed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The TargetScan algorithm, luciferase activity reporter assay, and Western blot analysis were conducted to validate homeobox D10 (HOXD10) as a direct target of miR-501. The results revealed that miR-501 expression was upregulated in hemangioma cell lines. Downregulation of miR-501 inhibited hemangioma cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, colony formation, migration, and invasion in vitro. Bioinformatics analysis indicated that HOXD10 was a putative target of miR-501. In additio...
