Musculoskeletal modeling and gait analysis can improve diabetic foot preventive management

Introduction: Complications of diabetes that affect the lower extremities are common, among them foot ulceration is the most frequently recognized one, and unfortunately also ulcers recurrence is common [1]. Preventive programs aiming at reducing both plantar ulcers occurrence and recurrence is one of the most important topics in the current approach to diabetic foot disease [1]. By considering the wide number of amputations per year due to diabetic foot pathology, early detection of subjects at risk through a good understanding of the factors that predict ulcers and its recurrence is becoming mandatory [1].
