Teaching OB-GYN residents to stay in Buffalo
With the number of babies delivered at area hospitals on the rise, the region could face a shortage of obstetrician-gynecologists in coming years.
A 2018 report on the OB-GYN workforce puts the Buffalo-Niagara metropolitan area in four worrisome categories:
Metros with the highest risk of shortages
Metro areas with the lowest percentage of OB-GYNs younger than 40;
Areas with the highest percentage older than 55;
Areas with the oldes t average doctor age.
