We report an unusual head tumour with extremely rare extensiveness and aggressivness. The patient was 18-year-old female with three-day-lasting headache and repetitive oral bleeding. Computed tomography revealed a large, well-circumscribed, expansile mass occupying ethmoid cells, nasal cavities and ventral part of the sphenoid sinus, with extention into the anterior cranial fossa. Pterional craniotomy was carried out. On one-year follow-up recurrence of the lesion was identified and the second surgery was performed. The lesion is under supervision now, due to incomplete removal.PMID:35048642 | DOI:10.5114/pjp.2021.111779

To optimize and individualize the management of patients it is necessary to better understand the biology of these tumors. Immunohistochemical analysis of β-catenin, VEGF, hormone receptors ERβ, ERα and PR, COX-2, APC protein, EGFR, c-kit (CD117), bcl-2 and HER2 expression, potential therapeutic targets, was carri...

We present a biopsy-proven case that arose as a result of heavy gym-related activities. In particular, a heavy barbell was rested on his vertebral prominence at the level of C7/T1 during leg squatting. Repetitive trauma as a cause for extra-nuchal-type fibromas has been sparsely reported, but we suggest that sustained high pressure is an additional required feature. Although this lesion was in the posterior neck, it was contained entirely within the subcutaneous tissues without involvement of the nuchal ligament. Hence, it was considered an extra-nuchal fibroma. A description of key ultrasound and MRI imaging characteristi...

Hautarzt. 2022 Jan 14. doi: 10.1007/s00105-021-04935-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThere are many different types of skin neoplasms in children and most are benign. Dermatologists should be able to differentiate between the various types of benign skin neoplasms and be able to recommend optimal treatment to concerned patients. Surgical removal of benign skin neoplasms is often the only treatment option. The aim of this paper is to provide a general overview of epidermal lesions (e.g., inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus [ILVEN], nevus sebaceous), tumors of the epidermal appendages (e.g. pilomatrixoma), cutaneo...

Int J Clin Exp Pathol. 2021 Dec 15;14(12):1167-1171. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTCardiac fibroma is a rare primary benign cardiac tumor, especially in adults. It often occurs in the interventricular septum and free wall of the left ventricle and is solitary and space-occupying with clear boundaries. Here we report a 27-year-old male with a cardiac fibroma in the right ventricle, with extensive infiltrative growth. He was admitted to hospital with the complaint of exertional chest tightness, shortness of breath, hemoptysis, and edema of lower extremities. Ultrasound showed a large right ventricular mass blocking the outflow tr...
