BD preps Arizona relo for peripheral interventions biz, expands in Ireland

Becton Dickinson (NYSE:BDX) is expanding in Arizona and Ireland, with a planned relocation in Tempe and the opening of a new facility in Limerick. New peripheral HQ to add 9% to Tempe workforce Franklin Lakes, New Jersey-based BD is reportedly planning to move its peripheral interventions unit into a new, 185,000-square-foot site where construction is slated to break ground later this summer, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. If the move happens as expected in 2020, BD would be the first tenant in Tempe’s IDEA development, a planned 18-acre, 1 million-square-foot campus, the newspaper reported. The company plans to add 50 workers to the 550 people it already employs in Tempe, with more hires likely after that, according to the paper. “The cooperation we received from the city of Tempe, the ability to attract and retain a diverse, talented and qualified workforce in this area, confirmed our decision to stay in the area and expand our workforce,” HR VP David Cano said in prepared remarks. “BD is helping us realize the concept of I.D.E.A. Tempe,” added Tempe mayor Mark Mitchell. “Our hope for the campus was to bring new jobs and new discoveries to our city.
