Abstract BACKGROUND: Letrozole is widely employed as ovulation induction agent in women with PCOS, but its use in mild stimulation (MS) protocols for IVF is limited. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the feasibility of a MS protocol with letrozole plus hMG in non-obese PCOS women undergoing IVF after a metformin pre-treatment. METHODS: We retrospectively evaluated the data of 125 non-obese PCOS undergoing MS with letrozole plus hMG, 150 IU as starting dose, (group 1, N = 80) compared to those undergoing a conventional IVF stimulation protocols (CS) (group 2, N = 45) pri...

Classic galactosemia is an inherited disorder of galactose metabolism caused by mutations in the galactose-1-phosphate uridyltransferase (GALT) gene. Even with early adoption of the recommended galactose-restricted diet, over 80% of affected females develop Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). In a study by Cramer et al, female carriers were observed to demonstrate an increased likelihood of infertility and early menopause. Conversely, a Dutch study by Knauff et al. found no difference in ovarian reserve when comparing classic galactosemia carriers and controls.

Menopause is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease however the relationship between reproductive and cardio-metabolic aging in unclear. Our objective is to determine if anti-mullerian hormone (AMH), antral follicle count (AFC) and AMH/AFC ratio are markers of cardio-metabolic disease in reproductive age women with and without infertility.

This study examines the association between the relative telomere length and idiopathic POF in a group of Iranian women.MethodsThe blood genomic DNA was extracted from 40 idiopathic POF patients (case group) and 40 fertile women (control group). The relative telomere length (RTL) was evaluated by quantitative Real-Time PCR using specific telomeric primers. RTL was calculated as T (telomere)/S (single copy gene) ratio and compared between infertile and fertile groups.ResultsA strong association was considered between telomere size and idiopathic premature ovarian failure. In patients the relative telomere length showed to b...

ConclusionModerate-to-severe endometriosis was more common in women with East or South East Asian ethnicity in our tertiary referral center. This could be explained by East/South East Asians with minimal-mild disease being less likely to seek care, or genetic/environmental differences that increase the risk of more severe disease amongst East/South East Asians.

Clomiphene citrate is well known for its negative impact on endometrial thickness. The long-acting phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor, Tadalafil, was shown to improve endometrial growth in patients under Clomiphene citrate stimulation.ObjectiveTo study the effect of Tadalafil on the endometrial thickness in Clomiphene citrate stimulated cycles as compared to clomiphe...
