Jun 14, Francis Cecil Sumner: Today in the History of Psychology (14th June 1920)

Francis Cecil Sumner became the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. Working with G. Stanley Hall at Clark University, Sumner's landmark doctoral thesis was titled "Psychoanalysis of Freud and Adler.
