1157 Time for the human epidermal peripheral clock, role of opsins and cryptochromes

Independent regulation of the peripheral clock to the central clock may be promising for the treatment of skin disorders. Opsins (OPN) are photoentrainment GPCRs and Cryptochromes (CRYs) are transcription factors of the molecular circadian clock, both are blue light receptors, however their role in human skin is not clear. Expression of CRYs and OPNs in female facial and abdominal skin was compared by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Changes in the circadian clock of primary epidermal keratinocytes investigated by stabilisation of CRY with KL001 or by knockdown of CRY1 or OPN3 using siRNA.
