The fraction of cancer attributable to modifiable risk factors in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom in 2015
This research estimates that 37.7% of cancer cases in the UK in 2015 were attributable to known risk factors. Tobacco smoking contributed the largest proportion of attributable cancer cases (15.1%), followed by obesity (6.3%) and overexposure to UV radiation (3.8%).
