Iqbal Choudhary Two new bicyclo[3.2.1]octanoid neolignans of guianin-type named as (1′R,2′R,3′S,7S,8R)-Δ5′,8′-2′-acetoxy-3,4,5,3′,5′-pentamethoxy-4′-oxo-8.1′,7.3′-neolignan (crocatin A, 1) and (1′R,2′R,3′S,7S,8R)-Δ5′,8′-2′-hydroxy-3,4,5,3′,5′-pentamethoxy-4′-oxo-8.1′,7.3′-neolignan (crocatin B, 2), along with known compounds pachypodol (3) and 1-triacontanol (4) were isolated from Indonesian red betle leaves, Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav. (Piperaceae). Their structures and configuration were determined by 1D- and 2D-NMR, MS spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Graphical abstract
