Synthesis and characterization of monoanionic salts of p-tert-butylcalix[7]arene

Crystal structures of t BuC7•K and t BuC7•Rb feature monomeric units and represent the first examples of solid state characterized t BuC7 salts. The alkali metal base strength and reaction stoichiometry used for the selective formation of monoanionic species is discussed. Graphical abstract
