CONCLUSIONS: We could prove the safety and effectiveness of descending TLN technique. The main advantages of descending TLN over traditional ascending nephrectomy technique are shorter operation time and hospital stay. PMID: 31697253 [PubMed - in process]

AbstractPurposePartial nephrectomy has been persuaded as a widely accepted surgical procedure for T1a ( ≤ 4 cm) renal tumors. However, when treating T1b (4–7 cm) renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the “optimal” method of surgery is still debatable. The aim of the research is to evaluate the long-term oncological and renal functional outcomes of laparoscopic radical nephrectomy (LRN) versus laparo scopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) for patients with T1b RCC.Materials and methodsFrom March 1, 2003 to July 1, 2016, 331 patients were included in the current study. Patients presented with unilateral...

ConclusionOver the last decade, urology has taken this cutting-edge technology in its stride; flaunting its efficacy in the augmentation of a number of procedural training applications. The number of use cases for this technology is only expected to rise as its virtues are demonstrated, the ease of use and availability of 3D printing units advances, and costs abated.

This study analyzes the results of laparoscopic nephrectomy for Wilms Tumor (WT) in pediatric age compared with open nephrectomy after 10 years of experience in a single centre. From 1993 in our center of reference for pediatric oncology, 30 patients with WT have been treated. We performed 21 open nephrectomy and in the last 10 years 9 laparoscopic nephrectomy. In all patients treated laparoscopically, the same technique made by the same equip was used. Compared with patients treated by open surgery, we did not find a significant difference in terms of outcome and survival. In the open surgery group, two patients had lung ...

CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that the TachoSil binding suturing technique might reduce the development of PA after LPN. Prospective randomized study and comparison to the standard 2 or 3-layer renorrhaphy is needed to prove its actual value. PMID: 31629637 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
