Purpose: Rabies is prioritized as an important zoonotic disease which alarmingly ignites major public health and socio-economic concerns in Thailand. Hua Hin and Pranburi Districts, popular seaside resort towns in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, were engulfed in rabies outbreak frenzy with 25 animal rabies cases reported in Pranburi during 2016 –2017. To effectively implement rabies prevention and control schemes in the endemic area of Pranburi (population of 75,026 in 765.4km2 or population density of 96.7/km2), community dog population must be quickly and realistically accessed.

In this study, we introduce a new framework for combining several data streams, e.g. temporal, spatial and genetic data, to identify clusters of related cases of an infectious disease. Our method explicitly accounts for underreporting, and allows incorporating preexisting information about the disease, such as its serial interval, spatial kernel, and mutation rate. Background: Rabies is a deadly viral zoonotic disease of public health importance and it is enzootic in India. Phylogenetic studies are significant to address the several biological characteristics of infections such as the association among the virus isolates, source, spread and movement patterns of the virus.
