[Digital volume tomography : Dedicated scanner and cone beam CT with C‑arm systems]. Radiologe. 2018 Feb 07;: Authors: Fiebich M, Weber D Abstract CLINICAL/METHODICAL ISSUE: Digital volume tomography (DVT) and cone-beam computed tomography (CT) with C‑arm systems have become established three-dimensional imaging systems as an alternative to CT in some application areas. STANDARD RADIOLOGICAL METHODS: The technology of the systems is well developed so that they have become a competing method to CT imaging in terms of image quality and radiation exposure. ConclusionsThe study of radiomics in BC patients is a new and emerging translational research topic. Radiomics in BC is frequently done to potentially improve diagnosis and characterization, mostly using MRI. Substantial quality limitations were found; high-quality prospective and reproducible studies are needed to further potential application.

AbstractPurposeTo evaluate the frequency of missed cancers on breast MRI in women participating in a high-risk screening program.MethodsPatient files from women who participated in an increased risk mammography and MRI screening program (2003 –2014) were coupled to the Dutch National Cancer Registry. For each cancer detected, we determined whether an MRI scan was available (0–24 months before cancer detection), which was reported to be negative. These negative MRI scans were in consensus re-evaluated by two dedicated breast radiolog ists, with knowledge of the cancer location. Cancers were scored as invisi...

We analyzed the performance of a mammographically configured, automated breast ultrasound (McABUS) scanner combined with a digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) system. The GE Invenia ultrasound system was modified for integration with GE DBT systems. Ultrasound and DBT imaging were performed in the same mammographic compression. Our small preliminary study included 13 cases, six of whom had contained invasive cancers. From analysis of these cases, current limitations and corresponding potential improvements of the system were determined.

Conclusions3-D US showed a high association with gold standard WDM for the preoperative assessment of breast volume and the histopathological measurement of tumour volume. 3-D US is an patient-friendly preoperative available technique to calculate both breast volume and tumour volume. Volume measurements are promising in outcome prediction of intended breast-conserving treatment.
