Sucampo Pharmaceuticals to be acquired in $1.2B deal

Global pharmaceutical company Mallinckrodt Plc (NYSE: MNK) has entered an agreement to buy Rockville ’s Sucampo Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMP) for $1.2 billion, including debt. U.K.-based Mallinckrodt, which has its U.S. headquarters in the St. Louis area, is making the purchase to gain access to Sucampo’s flagship drug, Amitiza, which treats constipation.
