Isolation, characterization, and hepatoprotective activities of terpenes from the gum resin of Boswellia carterii Birdw

Publication date: February 2018 Source:Phytochemistry Letters, Volume 23 Author(s): Jianbo Yang, Jin Ren, Aiguo Wang Three new tirucallane-type triterpenes named boscartene L–N (1–3) and three known compounds (4–6) were isolated from the gum resin of Boswellia carterii Birdw. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The absolute configuration of 1 was resolved using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The hepatoprotective activities of the isolated compounds were evaluated in vitro. At a concentration of 10μM, compounds 1 and 3–5 showed moderate hepatoprotective activities against d-galactosamine-induced HL-7702 cell damage. Graphical abstract
