DaVita Medical Group to be sold for $4.9 billion

DaVita Inc. plans to sell its underperforming managed-care group DaVita Medical Group to Optum, a UnitedHealth Group subsidiary, in a $4.9 billion deal that will allow the Denver-based kidney-care provider to reinvest in its core businesses and pursue new investments in other areas of health care. DaVita Medical Group acquired ABQ Health Partners in 2012. DaVita has 13 locations in the Albuquerque metro area, according to its website. ABQ Health Partners took the DaVita name earlier this year.…
