This article reviews lesions that classically arise from the posterior elements, mainly aneurysmal bone cyst, osteoid osteoma/osteoblastoma, myeloma, and osteochondroma; hemangioma, and giant cell tumor, which typically arise from the vertebral body but extend into the neural arch.
