Off To My Primary Care

This morning I go off to my primary care for my annual physical. Although there are lingering thoughts of'what if she finds something bad', I will squish them down for the duration. However after cancer, even though you have all sorts of oncologists and other fun doctors, your primary care is the one who is supposed to oversee your care. Hence, I have a paltry list of 15 questions for her. And I assume I will be sent for blood work after and maybe other tests. I expect I will be there for a few hours.I am looking forward to talking to her about multiple issues that do not fall under the care of any of my bazillion specialists. And there are a few. If someone (besides me) can pull all my medical crap together and make sense of it, I will be happy. After I will go to the gym to work off any residual stress.

In this study, we assessed the impact of interacting medication and pharmacogenetic variation to better explain apixaban concentration differences among 358 Caucasian AF patients. Genotyping (ABCG2,ABCB1,CYP3A4*22,CYP3A5*3) was performed by TaqMan assays, and apixaban quantified by mass spectrometry. The typical patient was on average 77.2  years old, 85.5 kg, and had a serum creatinine of 103.1 µmol/L. Concomitant amiodarone, an antiarrhythmic agent and moderate CYP3A/ABCB1 inhibitor, the impaired-function variantABCG2 c.421C  >  A, and sex predicted higher apixaban concentrations whe...

A group of former patients of Raleigh Radiology filed a  lawsuitthis month against the imaging center for producing substandard mammograms and not meeting American College of Radiology (ACR) standards. Lawyers of plaintiff Emily Cram, a Wake County resident, filed the December 31 suit on her behalf. After the ACR review, the center was mandated to inform all patients that mammo...

l A. El-Sayed New thienyl- or chlorophenyl-substituted thiazolopyrimidine derivatives and their derived sugar hydrazones incorporating acyclic d-galactosyl or d-xylosyl sugar moieties in addition to their per-O-acetylated derivatives were synthesized. Heterocyclization of the formed sugar hydrazones afforded the derived acyclic nucleoside analogues possessing the 1,3,4-oxadiazoline as modified nucleobase via acetylation followed by the cyclization process. The cytotoxic activity of the synthesized compounds was studied against human breast cancer MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 cell lines as well as human colorectal cancer HCT 116...

ConclusionEven though the number of cases was low, slight indications of an inverse association between coffee consumption and breast cancer risk among postmenopausal women were observed. Further longitudinal studies are warranted to confirm this finding.

This study demonstrates a comprehensive and cost-effectively scalable one-step rapid bio-fabrication of Eucalyptus globulus leaf extract (ELE) bio-actives functionalized copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) against human breast cancer (MCF-7) cells and Aspergillus flavus. The state-of-art characterization confirmed the thermal-stability of (i) ELE-CuONPs and (ii) surface associated ELE bio-active compounds bearing characteristic functional groups (aromatic-OH, polymeric-OH, C-O, and C = O) over a range of conventional temperatures (30 °C to 80 °C) and microwave (MW) heat (140 °...
