Interested in Pediatric Dentistry

Hello! Second year dental student who is interested in pediatric dentistry. Idk if this is what I want to do, but I just want to start looking into it. What's the average stat of applicants applying for pedo residency? Did research help? What kind of extracurricular activity will help my chance? Thanks!
