Advances in the Pathology of High Grade B Cell Lymphomas

“B-cell lymphoma, unclassifiable, with features intermediate between diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and Burkitt lymphoma (BL)”, abbreviated as “BCLU” here, was one of the new categories introduced in the 2008 WHO classification.1 However, this “BCLU” category has been eliminated i n the 2016 Revision of WHO classification of lymphoid neoplasms and replaced by two new categories of high grade B cell lymphoma (HGBL).2 One is HGBL, NOS, which include cases in previous BCLU category but without a MYC and BCL2 and/or BCL6 rearrangement and cases that appear blastoid but not diagno stic of B lymphoblastic lymphoma.
