Progress and Challenges in the Treatment of Follicular Lymphoma

Follicular lymphoma (FL) is the second most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The disease is characterized by a very heterogeneous natural history ranging from an indolent course not requiring therapeutic interventions at the time of diagnosis to a more aggressive clinical behavior with poor or only brief and transient response to therapy. Transformation to aggressive lymphoma may occur. Recent advances in supportive measures and novel therapeutic approaches have markedly improved survival of FL patients.
