[Image from unsplash.com]From MDCorp inking a European distribution deal to Align Technology’s North Carolina expansion, here are seven medtech stories we missed this week but thought were still worth mentioning. 1. MDCorp inks distribution deal with Smart Endoscope Systems MDCorp announced in a July 31 press release that it has signed a distribution agreement with Smart Endoscope Systems, giving MDCorp permission to sell Smart’s G-Eye system throughout its European market. Neuraxon, which is in the process of merging with MDCorp, is going to be responsible for distributing the G-Eye system in Europe and a network of 92 hospitals. 2. Align Technology expands in North Carolina Align Technology has opened a larger office in Raleigh, N.C., according to an August 3 press release. The company plans to hire more than 200 people in Raleigh over the next few years. The company first opened a Raleigh office in July 2015 with 14 employees. The larger office space will add on to its current 230 employee roster. 3. Access Scientific launches PowerWand exchange catheter Access Scientific has released its newest vascular access device the PowerWant REC (Rapid Exchange Catheter), according to an August 1 press release. The device requires no skin nicks to allow clinicians to easily exchange small bore catheters for large, high-flow PowerWand REC ones in seconds.
