AbstractRheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis are inflammatory joint disorders with an autoimmune pathogenesis and systemic involvement. The skin is one of the most frequently affected extraarticular sites with a number of manifestations or distinct diseases, including common conditions, such as rheumatoid nodules and psoriasis, and rare diseases like neutrophilic dermatoses. The latter are clinically characterised by polymorphic lesions, including pustules, bullae, abscesses, papules, nodules, plaques and ulcers, and histologically by neutrophil-rich inflammatory infiltrates. Inflammatory joint disorders and neutroph...

ConclusionsWe report DMF as a potent, stimulus‐specific, L‐Glutathione, and ROS‐dependent modulator of NET formation. Our results support the notion that modulation of NET formation contributes to the beneficial effects of fumaric acid esters in a variety of inflammatory conditions. This article is protected by copyright. We report a 63‐year‐old woman with psoriatic arthritis who suddenly developed a subcutaneous hematoma after being successfully treated with adalimumab. As she had also suffered from alcoholic cirrhosis, we speculated that she had developed thrombocytopenia severe enough to cause a subcutaneous hematoma. Furthermore, we investigated the changes of platelet counts in 65 psoriatic patients treated with biologics at a single institute from 2010 to 2016. Platelet counts were found to have decreased by 17.4 ± 2.8% during adalimumab therapy (n = 16), 18.5 ± 3.8% during infliximab therapy (n = 17), 14.8 ± ...

CONCLUSIONS: The first HDR brachytherapy treatment of psoriasis of the nail bed is presented. The initial experience revealed that brachytherapy treatment was well-tolerated and resulted in adequate control of the disease. A larger cohort of patients will be required for additional conclusions related to the long-term clinical benefits. PMID: 28725251 [PubMed]

8-Methoxypsoralen is a widely sold drug in Brazil as handled capsules and creams because it is only industrially available as soft gel capsules of 10 mg. In order to contribute to the quality control of these pharmaceutical forms, a spectrofluorimetric method was implemented and applied for the evaluation of the quality of compounding pharmacies in the state of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Solutions of 8-methoxypsoralen prepared in ethanol/water (30:70 v/v) produced fluorescence signals at excitation/emission wavelengths of 305/495 nm. The method presented good precision (relative standard deviation, RSD

Authors: Ellulu MS, Patimah I, Khaza'ai H, Rahmat A, Abed Y Abstract Obesity is the accumulation of abnormal or excessive fat that may interfere with the maintenance of an optimal state of health. The excess of macronutrients in the adipose tissues stimulates them to release inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor α and interleukin 6, and reduces production of adiponectin, predisposing to a pro-inflammatory state and oxidative stress. The increased level of interleukin 6 stimulates the liver to synthesize and secrete C-reactive protein. As a risk factor, inflammation is an imbedded mechanism of d...
