Clinical pearls in pulmonary medicine (2013)

A 38-year-old female presents to your office for periodic follow-up of her mild to moderate persistent asthma. She has no active pulmonary complaints. Asthma Control Test (ACT) score is 24. Spirometry reveals FEV1 2.8L (68% predicted) and FEV1/FVC ratio is 65%. Chest x-ray was normal. She has had one acute exacerbation in the past year. She is on inhaled fluticasone/salmeterol 250/50L puff twice daily and albuterol inhaler 2 puffs every 6h as needed (uses ~once per month).
