ECMC exec on ransomware attack: "This is a form of terrorism"
Erie County Medical Center officials confirmed this week that a cyber attack last month did indeed involve a ransom demand of thousands of dollars from an international source. But the hospital refused to pay.
The Level I trauma hospital in Buffalo has still not recovered fully from the attack, which led to a shut-down of all internal computer systems and email, including electronic medical records and billing systems.
