Estimating the economic burden of respiratory illness in the UK

This shows lung disease costs the UK over £ 11 billion each year, in costs to the NHS and in lost productivity. The findings suggest that respiratory illness continues to represent a substantial burden to individuals, wider society and the healthcare system, and that research funding allocation for respiratory illness does not currently reflect this.
