Study finds small business group health plans more affordable than individual plans

A study scheduled to be published Tuesday indicates that group plans for employees of small businesses in California are generally more affordable than individual plans. The study, by private health insurance exchange eHealth, looked at small businesses with 20 or fewer employees. In California, their average group monthly premium in 2016 was $1,570, with an average monthly premium of $305 per covered life and deductible of $2,300.
