Hysteria Writing Competition Judges – Sophie Duffy

What do you enjoy reading the most and why? A story that takes me to another place and a narrator with a fresh turn of phrase. If there was one book or piece of writing you wish you had written what would it be? ‘Fingersmith’ by Sarah Waters. For the big shock moment and stunning writing. What prompted you to volunteer to be a judge in the Hysteria Writing Competition? I was a judge last year and really engaged with the whole process and was encouraged by the quality of the entries. I truly believe you learn so much about your own writing through reading other writers’ work. If there was a film of your life who would play you and why? Amy Poehler – I know she is American but I love her geekiness. Where can we find out more about you?
