Uterine fibroids (leiomyoma) are benign monoclonal neoplasms of the myometrium and represent the most common tumors in women worldwide. Tumors occur in ∼77% of women overall and are clinically manifest in ∼25% by age 45 years. Although benign, these tumors are nonetheless associated with significant morbidity; they are the primary indication for hysterectomy, and a major source of gynecologic and reproductive dysfunction, ranging from profuse m enstrual bleeding and pelvic pain to infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and preterm labor.

Authors: Adina S, Dipalma G, Bordea IR, Lucaciu O, Feurdean C, Inchingolo AD, Septimiu R, Malcangi G, Cantore S, Martin D, Inchingolo F Abstract Orthopedic temporomandibular joint (TMJ) instability is very common among children and adults. It is often associated with pain in the cervicofacial region, and muscle contraction. To investigate whether muscle contraction can cause permanent posterior rotation of the head and whether treatment with splint and kinetotherapy is efficient, a literature review was carried out of patients with pain in the cervicofacial area. Additionally, the case of a 15-year old patient pres...

AbstractThe aim of this study was to compare the size and geometry of the aorta in patients with 7q11.23 duplication (Dup7) to healthy controls. We retrospectively reviewed all echocardiograms in all patients with Dup7 evaluated at our institutions from June 2017 through September 2019. All standard aortic diameter measurements were made and recorded. Z-scores for the measurements were calculated. For comparison, a set of control echocardiograms was developed by randomly selecting 24 normal echocardiograms in age-matched patients who had undergone echocardiograms for an indication of either chest pain or syncope. In 58 ech...

AbstractPurpose of the ReviewEndometriosis is defined by a finding of ectopic endometrial glands/stroma, and is characterized by a wide variability in pain symptoms. The goal of this review is to identify peripheral to central factors that can modulate pain output in a given patient with endometriosis. Based on this constellation of factors, we propose a pain classification for endometriosis.Recent FindingsThe development and persistence of endometriosis-associated pain is influenced by a complex interplay between local factors that then interact with central variables. Starting peripherally, endometriosis anatomic charact...
