Millennials Have Weaker Hands Than Other Generations, Study Shows

BOSTON (CBS) – If a “millennial” doesn’t give you a firm handshake, perhaps it’s because they can’t. A new study finds young adults have weaker hands than they did 30 years ago. Researchers measured the grip strength of 20 to 34 year olds and found that it was significantly lower than the average grip strength in the 1980s, especially among men. One possible reason is that young people don’t perform as much manual labor and just don’t use their hands as much. And while texting and using Snapchat on a smartphone may make your thumbs stronger, it’s also straining them and making them more prone to injury.
